Don't panic! The certainty of a date will be good for you - work towards it in small manageable chunks, and that way you will feel you are making progress, instead of it looking like a huge obstacle.

The manageable chunk has worked! although I admit I keep looking at the deadline (Tuesday next week) and going "Huh, that's forever from now. (But I have sent my latest draft off to thesis adviser for comments. I really just want this GONE so I can do actual work, you know?) :)

Yeah, we have to present our proposal to a panel of ... well, is it a panel when it's two people and your adviser? Anyway, I'm told it takes about 10 minutes if they dawdle over it, and yet it feels so serious and end of the world.
