Last we heard, Harding Medical Supplies had been bought out by Medi-Chair. And lo, there was much rejoicing at Chez Anna. We figured they must be better.
No, oh no. No. They're not.
After MUCH wrangling around about this - and when I say much, I mean six weeks of trying to arrange a simple pick-up and repair job - they came around to pick up the wheelchair "Monday between 8 and 4". (That meant 3:30.) That was this most recent Monday. Thinking he would get an update, Don called them today, at 4:15.
They haven't even looked at it yet. They can't tell him when they will look at it. They have no idea what will happen to it.
Because, you know, who needs a wheelchair, right?
Once again, this is autumn in Socialist Canada. We're experiencing beautiful weather - weather Don cannot enjoy because he has no wheelchair. Don has a series of specialist appointments he needs to get to this month, because, you know, he's got one of those fancy disabilities that require specialist appointments. Except now instead of that being something he can get to on his own, and still do things, he's got to arrange Access-a-Bus (which, I remind people, is only available if you book them exactly 7 days in advance) and he'll be wiped out for the next two days. Because he doesn't have his fucking wheelchair. And we don't know when he will get his wheelchair.
I mean, why would they do this? Why would they insist "it has to be picked up Monday" (a shitty time for us because Don had a Doctor's appointment that day, a follow-up yesterday, and another follow-up early next week, and probably something else late next week and if you're wondering if this is some indication that Something Is Wrong I'm afraid to tell you but yes, there is, and it's fucking serious and it's making me so mad) if they're not going to look at it for days afterward? What is the point???????
And now they are the only wheelchair repair place in a town that has a not-insignificant number of wheelchair users. They may be the only damned wheelchair repair servive in the whole province. And they are shite.
