So, yesterday on my way out the door I noticed the landlord had put a notice above the mailbox, indicating that there were going to be testing the firealarms on Monday, all day, and also they may need access to people's apartments. I guess that counts as 48 hours notice.
Needless to say, I panicked, because the apartment looks like an over-stressed grad student who is hardly home and a person with multiple physical disabilities who can't really do much cleaning live there. It is a scary scary scary disaster area of a place. Plus, I have issues with people being in my space. (We've had an actual guest in the apartment all of once, because she was going to water the plants while we were gone, and I actually had to take anti-anxiety meds to have in, and it was Katie.) The timing is kinda shite because literally 20 minutes before seeing the notice Don and I had agreed to spend the week between Christmas and NYE doing heavy cleaning of the apartment.
So today has been spent with me mostly doing cleaning things (all the things?) and popping online to say random things and then popping back offline to do all the laundry forever. (All the laundry is now hanging up.)
I'm very tired, and I'm very stressed, and I am hoping they don't come by at all because sweet ice cream truck on a stick, I cannot deal with people in my home.
In more pleasant news, I hope to get out to the Legislative Library tomorrow because they have things I want in the treasure room. They don't let me in the treasure room because they are horrible mean people, but they will bring me things from there. Then they hand me pretty pretty white gloves and let me touch things. (Or maybe not this time - I think I actually just need access to Hansard, which is in pretty bound books in the building across the street, and they make me sit in a small room with poor lighting while I go through things.)
Oh, since I am apparently randomly babbling at 4:30 in the morning.

Image is a sparkly mosiac type thing of a pirate's skull & cross-bones.
Don's little nephews sent that to him last year. I love it, I don't think they're going to be able to top it this year.
Also! As a gift for December, he got me Lost Girl Season 1. You may be wondering how this is since the DVD hasn't even been announced, let alone released, but he put enough money to cover the purchase of a DVD in an envelope and labelled it "Lost Girl Season 1! Do not open until Season 1 Release!" because he is adorkable. I am totally keeping him.

Date: 2010-12-20 01:49 pm (UTC)I think they may be passing us by, at least. I heard them in the hallway earlier, and now I don't hear them at all, and they haven't knocked.
