Canadian Courts agree: The Government Needs To Make Websites Accessible

On 30 May 2012, the court released its decision in the Jodhan case, which seeks to secure access to Government of Canada websites by people with disabilities. CCD applauds Donna Jodhan and AEBC for their hard work on this issue.

I've been following this case for a while. I'm pleased at the court's decision, and still appalled that my government spent so much money fighting this.

Good! Now if only they could have used the money to do the necessary upgrades rather than fight them...

I still can't accept that they needed a court case to tell them to do the right thing.

I'm glad that the courts found that not-accessible websites were a Charter violation and told the Government to fix the problem. How long will it take Mr. Harper to actually do so, I wonder.
